Cardinal Frank Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, will preside at the Mass of Beatification for the Georgia Martyrs, taking place on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Savannah, Georgia.

For this historic occasion, His Eminence will serve as Papal Legate, the official representative of Pope Leo XIV, presiding at the Eucharistic celebration, with more than 10,000 Catholics expected to attend.

The rite of beatification will honour the witness and sacrifice of Friar Pedro de Corpa, OFM, and four fellow Franciscan missionaries who were martyred in 1597 in what is now the state of Georgia (USA). Their steadfast faith and missionary zeal have long been remembered and celebrated by the Church in the region and beyond.

The beatification will be livestreamed on the website of the Diocese of Savannah, its social media platforms, as well as EWTN. A special website sponsored by the Diocese of Savannah provides additional background material and information about the martyrs and local celebrations.
