Bishops of Canada to Gather for Annual Meeting of the Plenary Assembly

The Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) will gather in Beaupré, Quebec for its annual meeting from September 23-27, 2024. The meeting will see 79 Bishops converge to discern, discuss and deliberate the life of the Church in Canada.

According to the CCCB, the following are some topics that will be covered: 

  • Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace on migrants and refugees 
  • Development and Peace – Caritas Canada (DPCC)
  • Standing Committee for Responsible Ministry and the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons 
  • XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops 
  • Reports

This year, the keynote address will be given via livestream by His Eminence Mario Cardinal Grech, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops General Secretariat. He will talk about the second session of the Synod on 'Synodality'.

As is customary, the Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič, will address the Bishops in his capacity as the Pope’s representative in Canada.
